Varsity vs Crittenden County High School (3 - 5) Loss Crittenden County scored two runs on the same error in the top of the 7th inning to complete a come-from-behind 5-3 win over the Hopkins County Central Storm Friday night in Mortons Gap. The error was one of five charged to the Storm over the course of the game. Hopkins County Central had gone into the top of the fifth inning holding a 3-2 lead after the Storm had scored three times in the bottom of the third. Crittenden County pulled even in the top of the 5th on a Storm error and a sacrifice fly. The Rockets had the first two batters in the top of the seventh reach base by means of a walk and a hit batter, setting the stage for the game-deciding two-run error. Hopkins County Central (2-6) threatened in the bottom of the 7th when Neilan Bruce doubled to center with one out. But Bruce would be thrown out attempting to steal and that would end the threat. Bruce had two of the Storm’s four hits. Jak Mitchell and Kullen Marshall had one hit each for Hopkins Central. Eli Earl gave a solid effort in the start on the mound for the Storm. He went 5 innings, giving up three runs, two of them earned, on three hits, striking out two and walking three. He got a no-decision for the game. Errors were costly for Hopkins Central, as the Storm committed five fielding miscues for the night.
